Our volunteer team is invaluable to all areas of our work at the PWRR Museum, and we’d love for you to join us. We don’t require new volunteers to have any previous experience: you only need enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and an interest in museums or military history.
We recruit three types of volunteer:
Our collections volunteers help us care for our collection. Their work includes:
Our outreach volunteers help us work with schools and families. Their work includes:
Our digital volunteers help us reach audiences online. Their work includes:
Digital volunteers can join us virtually – please contact us to find out more.
We ask most of our volunteers to pick a regular half-day slot to come to the museum. Outreach volunteers, however, may be asked to help with one-off events and activities, for example during school holidays. Virtual volunteers can volunteer from home whenever they have time but they are also very welcome to join us at the museum.
All our volunteers receive training and support from museum staff, and gain a wide experience of what we do behind the scenes at the museum. Our virtual volunteers receive the same amount of support from staff as any other volunteer.
We want to make it as easy as possible to volunteer, so we pay our volunteers’ travel expenses to get to the museum. Additionally, after six months, we offer all our volunteers a family membership of the Friends of the Museum. We also write references for volunteers.
To apply to join our volunteer team, please download and fill in the application form below, and send it to info@pwrrqueensmuseum.co.uk – or you can return it by post.
