First World War Medicine: Treating the Troops
‘Treating the Troops’ provides schools with new approaches to exploring medical advances in the First World War. Supported by the Royal College of Surgeons, resources include a case study of one of Harold Gillies’s patients.
We provide activities & resources packs adapted for the AQA, Edexcel and WJEC Eduqas GCSE History courses.

Free Resources: Sourcebook
A rich resource of sources to investigate, with fascinating case studies of wounded soldiers, and their treatment, from our collection and beyond. The sourcebook is full of engaging source investigation questions, and activities to support your lesson planning.
Samples
Loan Boxes - £50 per term
Inspire students by bringing the museum to your classroom, with a range of real and replica objects for your students to handle. Includes teacher’s notes and suggested activities to support your practice. Our loan boxes complement and expand upon our sourcebook.
We can deliver our loan boxes within 12 miles of the museum for an extra £25 charge.
Workshop - £4 per head (maximum 30 students)
Join us at our museum in Dover Castle for a hands on workshop in terms 4 and 5, including a tour of Dover Castle’s Secret Wartime Tunnels, which were used as a dressing station in the Second World War.
Our workshop is for a maximum of 30 students. It lasts half a day, with access to the rest of the Dover castle site available after the workshop.
We supply a pro forma risk assessment for the day.
