Regimental Forebears
The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment has six main forebear regiments, including the Queen’s Regiment. Objects and stories from our regiments can be found in museums and galleries across the South East of England, as well as at the PWRR and Queen’s Regiment Museum.
The Surrey Infantry Collection
The Surrey Infantry Collection, the PWRR Museum’s sister collection, is housed at the Surrey History Centre in Woking. The collection looks after the history of the Queen’s Royal Surrey Regiment, stretching from 1661 to 1966, and includes The Queen’s Royal Regiment (West Surrey) and The East Surrey Regiment.
The collection has displays in two museums – one at the Lightbox in Woking, and the other at Guildford Museum.
The archives of the Surrey Infantry Collection are held at the Surrey History Centre.

The Royal Hampshire Regiment Museum

The Royal Hampshire Regiment Museum, inside Serle’s House in Winchester, tells the story of the regiments from Hampshire from 1702 to 1992.
Their beautiful memorial garden is home to the ashes of many former servicemen.
The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Museum
The Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Museum and collection is inside Maidstone Museum in Kent.

The Buffs

The National Army Museum in Chelsea cares for the Buffs’ (Royal East Kent Regiment) collection.
Canterbury Museums and Galleries looked after the collection before it moved to London. A display is dedicated to the Buffs at The Beaney House of Art and Knowledge in Canterbury, in their Explorers and Collectors gallery.
The Buffs’ archive is part of the Special Collections and Archives at the Templeman Library, the University of Kent.
The Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge's Own)
The Middlesex Regiment Association gifted their collection and archive to the National Army Museum in Chelsea, where much of the collection is on display.

The Royal Sussex Regiment

The Archives of the Royal Sussex Regiment are held by the West Sussex Records Office.
